Fun Fridays!

It's time for Fun Fridays with Jen from A Girl In Pearls and a Boy with Toys!

So what's in store for the Allans this weekend? Not too much..and it feels good saying that! Summers in New England are WAY too short. I hate to say it, but I really hate having plans every single weekend..especially those that require us to travel out of town...only because we have 3 months (if that!) of nice hot weather and I hate how weekends start filling up! We work hard to make our yard and home nice and sometimes I just want to sit and enjoy it and do nothing but stay at home!

Today....it's a Friday office day at work! I love these because 1) I SELDOM get a day where I don't have to go over to court and don't have to wear a suit. 2) My office is starting to resemble a pig sty. 3) There are lots of voicemails to return and paperwork that needs to be tended to! 4) it allows me to plan a nice leisurely lunch with my friend A and hit up the Nordstrom's dress sale!

Just for the record I'm most excited about #4...maybe a quick lunch in the Nordstrom cafe as well!

I was just explaining to Mr. Allan why I love Nordstroms. I tried to tell him what it's like to just try on a dress there...how you're assisted by staff, how nice the dressing rooms are with their 3 way mirrors and platforms in the actual dressing room itself so you get to see how you really look in the dress, and how it's just so much nicer and better...I don't think he got it, but that's ok...I'm in well equipped I totally get company today!

Tomorrow...it's a trip to the gym in the morning then off to the farmer's market to pick up our CSA from a local farm!

We're also off to a little garden party soiree with some friends on Saturday night. The forecast is calling a for a perfect summer day. I'm excited to throw on a sundress and hang with these guys!

Hopefully the weekend will bring some sitting in the sun, lots of glasses of wine in my hand, and plenty of time with friends!

And it's a very special Friday...since it's Mr. Allan's Birthday! So here's to my fabulous husband! Happy Birthday babe!!!!

Tonight...we're off to celebrate! We're headed to the MGM Grand at Foxwoods for dinner at Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak. Since it feels like we've been to every restaurant in RI three times over...I figured it would be fun to venture to the casinos..have a great dinner and do a little gambling. Thanks to my sister for putting this little idea in my head!

It's also a long weekend! We'll be bbq'ing, sitting by this bad boy, and enjoying some fireworks. I'm looking forward to our first low key, stay at home, enjoy the pool and yard weekend of the summer!

The week after a short week involving a four day weekend is always rough for me...so the nice 4 day work week from last week bit me in the butt this week. This seemed like the.longest.week.ever.

So I'm glad it's Friday and the weekend! So what's in store for me this weekend?

First off, I'm enjoying the fact that Mr. Allan is back home! Last night provided some horrible summer like storms for us in RI. Thunder so loud it was shaking our house! I had little cats with wide eyes sticking to my side last night as lighting lit up the sky. Mr. Allan was traveling...not the best weather..and proved for lots of delays for the poor guy resulting in cancelled flights and Mr. Allan getting fed up, renting a car, and driving all night to get back home. But..he's back in town to entertain his wife for the weekend and hopefully nap today while I'm at work to catch up on pulling an all nighter!

But..in New England..most will be watching Game 5 of the Stanley Cup ..hopefully the Bruins win yet another!

On Saturdays..it's always the same morning routine for me...wake up, make coffee, feed the hungry cats, drink coffee, clean up after the cats, and then off to the gym for one of my favorite classes...Turbo Kick! Hopefully the weather will cooperate so we can open our pool....while I love our yard...I'm sick of looking at the covered pool and can't wait to spend Saturday afternoons lounging by it!

Hopefully the weather on Saturday cooperates so we can meet some friends for dinner at a great local restaurant called the Matunuck Oyster Bar to eat some of these...

and sit out on the deck and enjoy the view

Hopefully Sunday will bring us nice weather to add some finishing touches to the garden and yard!

Fun Fridays!

Woo Hoo for the weekend! It's time for Fun Fridays with Jen from A Girl in Pearls and a Boy With Toys.

So what's on tap this weekend...My weekend started last night with a private part at Alex and Ani store in Newport, RI! (http://www.alexandani.com/). I love their bracelets and added four more to my collection..I went for a little bit of color. It was also a great night out with the ladies..we went to Fluke for drinks and apps before hand!

Today is a much needed day off. We need to bring Mr. Allan's car into the shop..then it's the gym, home to shower and some shopping! I'm in need of good white pants

I also need some casual summer dresses...

and some summer shirts!

Also...we're headed to my sister and brother in law's house for a bbq with the family on Sunday! My job..to make some of these



 
and every bbq needs a little guacamole as well

And..the blog needs some maintenance. Blogger is messing with photos in older posts..it figures they're mostly the recipe posts where pictures matter the most!

Hopefully a trip to the beach and a fabulous long weekend lies ahead! Happy Friday and Happy LONG weekend! Woo Hoo!

Fun Friday!

Finally....the Fun Friday's post! Blogger has been down for the past 20 hours or so and it also ate yesterday's post! Boo...but at least it's the weekend!!!

So what's in store for this weekend???

I'm excited that Mr. Allan flew home in the wee hours of the night. I was sleeping when he came home and he was sleeping when I left this morning...but at least we're in the same zip code for the next week! I can't wait to just have someone besides three cats to hang out with at home! Not that the cats aren't good companionship, but I'm sick of talking to myself and need a little human interaction!

Tonight..we're headed down to Newport for dinner at the Salvation Cafe.

It's got a different atmosphere..a little eclectic but they make a mean espresso martini..a drink I'll be sure to have in my hand in a matter of hours!

The rest of the weekend is up in the air! One of our favorite nearby restaurants has a local farm dinner every month which is going on. I also need to do some shopping...so does Mr. Allan! I was so proud of Mr. Allan when he said he wanted to go to Nordstroms for some new shoes. He said he goes through black dress shoes for work quickly, or they don't last and  he needed to invest in a good, expensive pair that will last more than a couple months! More expensive sometimes does equal better because it's a better quality...or so my theory goes...

So..hopefully a trip to the outlets near us will be in the agenda. Mrs. Allan desperately needs some work clothes and suits! I'm also on the hunt for a nice pair of white pants and a nice pair of nude heels. I'm struggling on the shoe front at work lately. So many heels have a huge platform under the ball of the foot. While that might be nice if you're headed out to an event or a nice dinner, that crap doesn't work when you're slugging up and down the hallways of the local court house. I need something that fashionable and I'll take just a little sensible and doesn't look like something my grandma would wear!

Hopefully I can find something along the lines of this...

Because stuff like this...ain't gonna work! (I'm starting to sound like an old lady claiming the shoes nowadays are too high!)

I also need to pick up some dresses I could hopefully pull off at work, some nice cardigans and a suit a two! I was a very well behaved wife for the last two seasons and barely bought antyhing. I've been recycling my suits like there's no tomorrow interchanging what I wear underneath and different accessories and need some new things in the mix!!!

Here's hoping the weather stays nice and the sales are abundant at the stores I frequent this weekend!

I'm so excited it's Friday! This has been a long week, work stunk, and I'm so glad to have a conference today and not have to go in the office! So what's in store for me this weekend??

Tonight..it's Ladies Night! I'm off for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (god help me please find something half way healthy!!!) then off to see Something Borrowed! Here's a sneak peek! the film is based on the book by Emily Giffin.

On Saturday it's off to the gym bright and early...then onto errands! I have some J brand jeans that need to get shortened! I've been dying to wear them but haven't been able to get to the tailor! My little putt putt Toyota Corolla needs some TLC so into the shop it goes..we won't mention that the inspection sticker expired 2 months ago..oops!

Then on Sunday...why it's a day all about my mom! Can't wait to take her to brunch, hang out with my sister's and celebrate my cool kick ass mom!

My favorite day of the week...Friday! I'm hopping on the Fun Fridays bandwagon with Jennie from A Girl in Pearls and A Boy with Toys

Not only am I excited that it's the weekend...I'm loving that there is no Court today and I had an office day! I'm hoping to walk over to the mall during my lunch break and get some much needed office work and office cleaning done today! Mr. Allan arrived home from a week long business trip to Texas...I can't wait to grab some dinner and drinks with the Mr. tonight....and of course it goes without saying that I'll be looking at tons of Royal Wedding stuff!

On Saturday, it's time to start getting the yard ready for spring and summer. The weather has steadily gotten warmer and Mr. Allan is going to power wash and stain the deck. It's quite the task because we have quite the yard and quite a bit of deck. So I wish him the best of luck :)

Saturday night I think we're headed to Newport for some Mexican with friends! Hopefully lots of sangria and margaritas as well!

On Sunday I'm headed out for brunch with my sisters and a friend and then to see a play version of Steel Magnolias..

so many good lines from this movie! I've seen it a million times and can't wait to see how its interpreted into a play..and an afternoon with some ladies isn't too bad of a way to wrap up the weekend!

One to do task for me...clean out my closet...it's a hot mess! I'm dying to pack away some of the winter stuff and whip out some summer stuff!

I should be embarrassed to even post a picture of it!

It goes in bold this week because it was a long one! I'm so excited it's Friday...Good Friday at that..although I don't get the day off!

So what's in store for the Allans this weekend?

Today...I'm excited for my co workers to try a new brownie recipe..might sound very anti-climactic to most..but I was in the mood to bake last night and think I made some pretty good brownies...be on the look out for the recipe!

Tomorrow I'm running the Scott Carlson Memorial 5k. This is a great race for a great cause. It supports ALS, or Lou Gehrig's, disease research. The race is named for a man who lost his battle to the disease in 2003 at the age of 39. I love to run and support this race since I know a great woman I used to work for in law school who died from this awful disease. The forecast is calling for rain...but I'll brave the sprinkles and go out and get some exercise!

Then, Mr. Allan and I are heading to Western, MA to spend Easter with this lady...

Why who is she..my fabulous mom of course! We also get to hang out with her lovely sidekicks

Most of all I'm looking forward to a great weekend with a little exercise..then some time helping my mom out with things around the yard and house...and cooking a great meal for us on Sunday..maybe a little play time with the puppy too!

Fun Fridays!

It's Friday...TGIF!!!! It's also time for Fun Fridays with Jen from A Girl in Pearls and A Boy with Toys!

So what's in store for me this weekend?

I'm just excited Mr. Allan is home from a business trip and can't wait to hang out with him and spend some quality time together! Every Friday night, we head to a local restaurant/bar down the street from us. Our Fridays kind of remind me like a scene from that old sitcom Cheers....you know..where everyone knows your name. By the time we sit, say hello to the neighbors, the bartender has our drinks of choice poured. We eat some grub and enjoy catching up on the local town gossip.

I'm also hoping to sneak over to the mall during my lunch break ...I'm in desperate need of some make up primer and some placemats for our new dining room table. I'm thinking of giving Smashbox Primer Light a try!

If it's nice out on Saturday I hope to get out in our yard. We have a pretty big yard and it's time to tackle weeds in all the flower beds, fill up the bird feeders, put the bird houses out, get the compost pile going, get the fire pit roaring and start cleaning out my little raised bed garden. If I wait too long, I become overwhelmed with weeds! This year I'm going to try some gentler tactics..instead of the chemical weed killers...I'm going to see how a bit of salt water will kill em!

On Sunday we're hosting a little Sunday dinner and having my dad and stepmom over. I think the meal of choice will be Barefoot Contessa's Roast Chicken...one of Mr. Allan's favorite meals...click HERE to see a previous post that contains the recipe!

I'm thinking it's time to try a new dessert recipe as well! Hopefully you'll see next week if I find a new dessert recipe that's a keeper!

Hopefully if the weather cooperates, Mr. Allan and I can get out for some runs! I love that spring is here! There's nothing better than lacing up the sneakers and pounding some pavement for some good exercise!

So what's on tap this weekend....today I'm working, running home from work, throwing together a weekend bag and Mr. Allan and I are off for the weekend. We're headed to the Pocono's to visit Mr. Allan's parents. So, we'll embark on the 5 hour drive tonight!

I hear they have lots of little jobs for Mr. Allan to do..so this probably means some time with my Kindle and maybe sneaking away to the outlets near by their house...they have a killer Ann Taylor outlet that's always chock full of suits that I, unfortunately have to wear to work everyday..and desperately need some new ones! I'm not sure why that particular Ann Taylor outlet has so much stuff...maybe Ann Taylor's not a big hit in the Poconos!

So what's on tap for the Allans...well, I'm happy to report that Mr. Allan is H-O-M-E...no more husband away in the Artic!

So we're starting the weekend with dinner tonight...I need some cocktails and am just going to enjoy some time with the husband.

Tomorrow I have my Saturday morning routine of the gym, then lunch with some lovely ladies and then we're off to a Local Farm Dinner at the Celestial Cafe. Sunday...I'm declaring it a sister day! My sister and I are driving up to Beverly, MA to see our other sister..the 3H club will be complete for a day (we're Heather, Heidi and Holly..aka the 3H club). We'll take some time to celebrate a birthday gal as well...although I won't mention any ages!
