Haven't seen this guy in a while..most notably known for his "Eat It" rendition of Michael Jackson's "Beat it"...Weird Al Yankovic has now moved onto Lady Gaga..

The Do's and Don't of Summer

In honor of tomorrow being the first official day of summer at 1:16 P.M.....I thought this article I saw in my local paper over the weekend was fitting!

One of my favorite lines from the author, Georgea Kovanis, was "While there's something to be said for the luxury of spending days in shorts and T-shirts at the cottage or on staycation, there's a big difference between enjoying the freedom of summer and being a complete slob. Some things--tube tops, bike shorts on people who are not actively engaged in riding a bicycle, Speedos for men, and super short-shorts on anyone other than Wonder Woman--are just unacceptable"

So true! Just because it's hot out doesn't mean that you should let it all hang out.  So here are the Do's and Don't of Summer!

1. DO take care of your feet!
If you're going to wear sandals, make sure your feet are clean and presentable. Invest in a professional pedicure because no one wants to see your raggedy nails. If you can't afford professional pedicures, do yourself a favor and buy a foot file for a couple dollars and keep it in your shower and use it daily to exfoliate.

2. DON'T wear pantyhose with sandals

as you can see..a big fashion faux pas. If your office requires them, then forgo the strappy shoes or if you think your legs are too white to pull off a skirt without them, invest in some self tanner.

3. DO exfoliate and moisturize your legs
If you're going to show em..them make them look nice. There's nothing worse than dry flaky looking legs. You can make your own exfoliating scrub at home by taking 2 tbsp of oil and mixing 1 tbsp of brown sugar or sea salt.

4.  DO Keep flip flops at the beach
Flip Flops are not a substitute for shoes and are the absolute most casual foot wear you can wear. It's one step away from being barefoot.

5. DO wear a bra at all times
very few women look good when they're not wearing a bra. (Amen!) As Oprah says, the best make over a woman can have is a good fitting bra and some hair dye! A big no no is wearing summery dresses and going sans bra. Invest in a good convertible or strapless bra.

6. DON'T forget to keep it classy
Just because it's hot doesn't mean to have to dress skimpy. Summertime doesn't mean showing as much skin as possible.

7. DO add color to your wardrobe
whites and neutrals are really big for this season, but be sure to add a pop of color...one that universally flatters..coral.

So...I think this is a great list and agree with almost all of them. Maybe the only one I break is the flip flop rule. I do wear flip flops out when I'm running errands etc. Although I do think people take it to a new level when they wear the flimsy thin ones for way too long past their shelf life.

So, get yourself a pedicure, a good convertible bra, and a pop of color and enjoy the first day of summer!

Say Cheese

Someone looks really concerned about being charged with conspiracy, four counts of illegal campaign contributions, and one count of false statements for allegedly soliciting over $1 million dollars worth of campaign funds to cover up his mistress and love child.

Sore Losers....

All the Boston fans are celebrating the Bruins Game 7 Shut Out over the Canucks to win the Stanley Cup. Meanwhile all the sore losers in Vancouver are taking this loss pretty seriously as they destroy the downtown area.

Poor Hef

This was the happy couple with the 60, yes 60, year age difference just a few months ago right around the time they announced their Christmas Eve Engagement.

85 year old Hugh Heffner and his 25 year old fiance, Crystal Harris, were set to get married this Saturday at the Playboy mansion. Earlier this week, Crystal called off the wedding.

But here's the kicker...rumor (aka Perez Hilton) has it that the 25 year old Harris is cheating on Hef with none other than Dr. Phil's son?

An insider leaks that "The wedding is off and everything has been canceled," said a source close to the couple. "Hef is in shock. Crystal bailed and left the mansion at 11pm Sunday night.
"She has a boyfriend. She is seeing Dr. Phil's son, Jordan. She thinks she is going to be living with all of Dr. Phil's millions." Crystal denies that she's seeing Dr. Phil's offspring.

I love celebrity gossip. I can't say I'm really surprised that this marriage didn't happen and the relationship didn't work out. Not that I know them or anything (obviously!) but c'mon..no one wants to date anyone older than their dad and grandfather. These shots that were posted on www.perezhilton.com a month or so ago say it all...

Everyone on their motor scooters at Disneyland...I bet it makes that age difference seem so much more apparent

and I wonder if this lady who longed to get married to her "puffins" is at all happy and satisfied at the news!

Hef did release a statement...saying.."Since we're not getting married on Saturday, I've scheduled a movie: "Runaway Bride." Seems appropriate"

What I'm Loving Wednesday

It's Wednesday...time for What I'm Loving Wednesday with http://www.littledaisymay.blogspot.com/!

So what am I loving this Wednesday?

I'm loving this book...Shopgirl by Steve Martin

I'm not sure what made me grab this book and put it on my Kindle. It was a quick read but that was refreshing after reading a couple of pretty lengthy novels. I found his style of writing unique and so interesting. There was something about this book and the way the characters were formed that pulled me in and just made me want to know what happens to them. I was very surprised by it, enjoyed it and am anxious to read Steve Martin's other novels. I think park of my fascination with the book is that it was written by Steve Martin, the comedian....that alone blew my mind a little!

I'm also loving this shampoo and conditioner by Alba Organics. I'm going to admit that I am a complete hair product whore. I buy tons, have a very hard time committing, and feel no shame with tossing something aside for something that looks better and catches my eye. The result for me is a linen closet in the bathroom with an entire shelf dedicated to shampoos and conditioners that are half full that I've lost interest in. I have thick hair, so finding a good conditioner is a huge pain for me. Sometimes I'll be able to buy something off the shelf at Walmart that will work well for me for a couple weeks and I think to myself..who knew that I could spend $4 on a bottle of shampoo or conditioner and not unload $20. But, I have a honeymoon period and then it just doesn't feel like it's working anymore.

One steady favorite of mine is Moroccan Shampoo and Conditioner from the same peeps who make Moroccan Oil. But..this week I found one that's been working pretty well... Alba Organics Cocoa Butter hair wash and shampoo. $9 at my local Whole Foods although I've seen it at Target and other retails stores as well!

I'm also loving the Tony awards fashion. I'm a sucker for celebrities and what they're wearing. My two favorites...

Catherine Zeta Jones

and Christie oh my god I want to look like her when I'm 57 Brinkley. I love the color..maybe I'm not a fan of all the details but I thought she pulled it off and looked fabulous

I'm also loving that ABC has announced some of the contestants for the Bachelor Pad which premieres this summer. I will admit..I'm a little bored with the Bachelorette. I wasn't a huge fan of Ashley's, I'm over the huge hang up on stupid Bentley and am cringing for her when she finds out the stuff he said in his little interviews and not a lot of the guys are doing it for me.

So, I was beyond excited to hear that this trio is in the cast
who are they...why it's Jake and Vienna..the once engaged couple who went sour quick and her new boyfriend...the weirdo who got the rose tattooed on his arm and thought he could sing, Kasey, from Ali's season of the Bachelorette. I can't believe after all his reality show bloopers with the tattoo, crying, and that awful singing, that he's going back for more!

Happy Wednesday!

"I learned a hard but profound lesson last year and I'd like to share it with you. In 2000, I told graduates "Don't be afraid to fail." Well now I'm here to tell you that, though you should not fear failure, you should do your very best to avoid it. Nietzsche famously said "Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger." But what he failed to stress is that it almost kills you. Disappointment stings and, for driven, successful people like yourselves it is disorienting. What Nietzsche should have said is "Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you watch a lot of Cartoon Network and drink mid-price Chardonnay at 11 in the morning.""

"Your path at 22 will not necessarily be your path at 32 or 42. One's dream is constantly evolving, rising and falling, changing course"

-Conan O'Brien
during his address to the class of 2011 at Dartmouth College

My two favorite quotes from Conan O'Brien's address to graduates at Dartmouth College. Here's a link to the text of his speech HERE as well as a video. If you're a fan...it's entertaining...hey, maybe if you're not even a fan, it'll entertain you too.
